Pi-Rums of the Caribbean!

New story out today on ruuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmm!

This one is set in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, which, I’m sad to say, I did not have the chance to visit while reporting. The piece centers on the continuous “rum wars,” propelled forward by the aforementioned U.S. territories as they fight to draw in new business, keep what they’ve got and generally prevent each other from cutting a larger piece of the rum cake (yum!) A lot of dinero is at stake! Each jurisdiction is a beneficiary of a Congressionally-approved program which funnels rum tax money back to the territories’ treasuries based on the size of their rum industries.
